Italian federation officials convened Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola in person to consider replacing Roberto Mancini as national team coach.

The meeting included technical staff including board members Paolo Maldini and Leonardo.

Despite ongoing English media speculation concerning a Premier League return, Guardiola apparently showed no personal desire for the role.

He previously indicated his hesitation to take on the job amid reports of interest from Italy.

Currently, no decision has been made about the managerial position.
