Qantas has dispatched letters or emails to customers to about one million Australian customers.
The communication describes a $105 million settlement for flights that were cancelled during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The airline clarifies the payout will be distributed to eligible passengers who booked in 2020 and will be handled over the next few weeks in the coming weeks.
On that day, Virgin Australia disclosed it still holds $93 million in unused flight credits currently idle.
That total was disclosed as the airline’s chief executive received a salary increase in the latest review.
Virgin has yet to announce any plan to release the credits for now.
