Travellers now only use the Coquihalla Highway, avoiding the closure. The fire near Hope flames northeast of the Coquihalla interchange, sending thick smoke. Smoke is dense and clearly to see, harming visibility. A second blaze erupted south of Boston Bar on Tuesday. This second fire affects 300 hectares. It compelled officials to close Highway 1 in the same area. Two key routes into southern BC are now impeded.
