Coco Gauff Survives Round 3 at the China Open

Coco Gauff defeated 16-year-old Sun Xinran, the junior U.S. Open champion, in Round 3 of the WTA Beijing China Open on Oct. 5. Gauff pulled away late to close out the match, moving through despite scheduling disruptions that created problems for her during the tournament.

The win comes after a significant record fell around Gauff in Beijing. Mirra Andreeva claimed Gauff's WTA 1000 teenage record earlier in the event, adding extra weight to Gauff's need to hold her ground in the field.
